Pupil Premium & Service Premium

What is the Pupil Premium Grant?

The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) is additional funding given to schools to support pupils who may face disadvantage and help close the achievement gap.

The Service Premium Grant (SPP) is given to eligible schools to help mitigate the negative impact of family mobility, separation or parental deployment on service children.

Who is it for?

Pupils who:

  • Have ever received free school meals (FSM)
  • Are looked after or adopted from care
  • Are from Service families

How is it used?

  1. Teaching
  • Staff training and professional development to improve teaching and learning for all pupils.
  1. Academic Support
  • Targeted help to overcome barriers to learning, such as tutoring or small group intervention support.
  1. Wider Approaches
  • Transition support
  • Attendance support
  • Additional emotional support through ELSAs
  • Parent support advisor
  • Subsidised breakfast club/ WAC
  • Help with trip costs and wider extra-curricular activities

These approaches help build confidence, resilience, and aspiration, and often benefit all pupils.

Accountability

We publish an annual Pupil Premium Strategy and Impact Statement so:

  • Parents understand how the funding supports pupils
  • Governors can review evidence-based decisions

Pupil Premium registration form

Please apply for free school meals if your income is low, even if your child is entitled to a free infant meal or they have a packed lunch. Children who are entitled to free school meals at any time during the last 5 years receive extra Pupil Premium funding for the school. This helps us to provide your child with additional opportunities and support. Full details and the on-line application can be found on the Wiltshire Council website www.wiltshire.gov.uk or the school office will be happy to help.

All applications are treated in the strictest confidence and other children and parents do not know who is entitled to free meals.
