Religious and World View Education
At Lyneham Primary School, Religious and World View Education plays a vital role in helping our pupils develop an understanding of the diverse beliefs, values and traditions that shape our world. Through our Religious and World View Education curriculum, children are encouraged to explore and reflect upon the big questions of life, develop respect for different faiths and worldviews, and foster their own sense of identity and belonging.
We follow the Jigsaw curriculum for this very important aspect of the children's education. Our teaching ensures a broad and balanced study of major world religions, and lessons are designed to be inclusive, engaging, and accessible to all children, encouraging discussion, critical thinking and empathy.
Religious and World View Education is a statutory part of the curriculum for all pupils, except those withdrawn by their parents or carers.
Right to Withdraw
Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious and World View Education. If you are considering this, we strongly encourage you to first speak with the Headteacher to discuss your concerns and the nature of the Religious and World View Education provision. If you still wish to proceed, a formal written request is required. Alternative educational provision will be made during Religious and World View Education lessons.
If you would like more information about our Religious and World View Education curriculum or the right to withdraw, please contact the school office.
