Enrichment Curriculum

We are incredibly lucky here at Lyneham Primary School to be able to offer our children a specialist Enrichment Curriculum alongside their core learning within the National Curriculum. These opportunities include:

Specialist art lessons, with Miss Barlow;

Specialist drama lessons, with Miss Phillips;

Specialist PE and sports lessons, with Mr Thorne and Miss T;

and a fantastic Forest School provision, run by Mrs Cooper and Miss Mickish.

The purpose of the Enrichment Curriculum is to provide a broad range of opportunities to learn and develop outside of the classroom. These opportunities foster future professional skills such as resilience, active listening, confidence, self-esteem and teamwork, coupled with the growth of interests and enthusiasm for passions beyond the classroom.  

These enrichment opportunities go beyond the standard curriculum, providing our pupils with a range of experiences that enhance their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Here is why we consider enrichment opportunities so important for the children here at Lyneham Primary School:

Stimulates cognitive development: Enrichment activities often involve problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity, which can enhance cognitive skills. Exposure to diverse subjects and activities can broaden a child’s knowledge base and intellectual curiosity.

Promotes social skills: Enrichment activities often require collaboration and teamwork, fostering social skills and the ability to work effectively with others. Interacting with peers in different settings helps our children develop empathy, communication skills, and a sense of community.

Many of our activities at Lyneham involve physical activity in a range of disciplines. Regular physical activity is essential for the development of motor skills and a healthy lifestyle.
